Omah Lay and Tems Released From Police Custody in Uganda


Omah Lay and Tems are Nigeria artists that were recently arrested in Uganda and charged to court for flouting COVID-19 protocols on Sunday, December 13, 2020. There release has been confimed. Omah Lay and Tems were arrested on Sunday, December 13, 2020 for performing at an ‘unauthorised concert’. Since their arrest, a lot of controversies have since been generated online especially on social media and Nigerians calling for their release. This gave birth to trending #FreeTemsAndOmahLay on twitter. Omah Lay said on his twitter handle that; Why am I being detained? Why am I not been given a right to a fair hearing?, I didn’t organize a show, I came on stage and saw teeming fans and sang to them…

Most artistes and concerned Nigerians called on the intervention of Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission Abike Dabiri-Erewa, whom promised to look into the situation to secure their prompt release.

Many have questioned the reason for their arrest, even though it was established they broke the law of the country (Uganda). The good news is that, the case against them has been dropped!
